“Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance, you must keep moving.” – Albert Einstein
It is time for forward motion. We have cringed, sat quietly, and hidden far too long. What better season to throw off the lethargy than the one of gratitude and thanksgiving. It’s time for some common sense.
Recently I took a drive to a nearby town. The fall colors in my part of Kansas this year are exceptional. Although I have been getting out now for months, it always seemed like a foreign country. It was more comfortable to just stay home.
This day, the sense of being on the other side of the looking glass lifted. It was palatable in a good way. The forward motion of the car just blew all the weirdness away.
Forward Motion Is A Choice
It is simple to regain forward motion. Like most basic things in life, it is not complicated:
Recognize You ARE Stuck –
Admit it, it’s felt safe and comfy to sit at home but at what cost? Just because it feels good does not mean it is. Life is too short.
Realize This Is Not Normal –
There are times life attempts to hold us hostage whether from within, without, or both. Cars get stuck in the mud but we don’t leave it there. We get help, another vehicle, chains and step into the muck and rescue the car?
FB is full of people rescuing animals from being stuck in all kinds of situations. Why? It is not normal. They would die otherwise. Wake-lA! Forward motion is calling.
Deal With The Root Cause –
so what is the root cause? Convenience? The government? Although I appreciate the increased curbside service, delivery and online resourcing shopping was never my major reason for going out. As far our leaders – well I won’t go there.
The real root cause: fear. I have spent most of my adult life rooting out all kinds of fear in my life and I refuse to go back. Why? It is simple, I discovered this truth in 2 Timothy 2:7-
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Make A Simple Plan –
What have you let go that you miss? Find a way to get it back or replace it. What is keeping you off balance? Make a list. Identify the fear lurking:
- Dread
- Anxiety
- The Unknown
- Worry
- Care
Take The First Step – First, deal with any and all fear. If it’s fear, it is not God. Why hang onto something that is not of God at any level? Let it go.
Get your balance back, climb up on that bicycle, and like Mr. Einstein said get your forward motion back!
What ONE forward step will you take today? Put it in writing in the comments so we can cheer you on!
