How To Celebrate Forty-Two Years Together?

Forty-TwoForty-Two years of marriage is big deal, but not in terms of milestones.  There is no special gift or stone.  It’s not rubies, emeralds, silver or gold.  It’s simply forty-two years.  So what does one do to celebrate?

In our house, we chose to take a ride on a carousel.   Yep, you read that right-a carousel. Not just any carousel:  the newly restored Wichita Joyland Carousel!  Now located at Botanica, The Wichita Gardens.

Before The Forty-Two

I first wrote about this project in 2017 where several hidden and unlikely connections  to our lives were discussed.  From Aviation, Air Traffic to our Historic Home, there is a connection.  Then in 2019, I posted again just as the project was coming to fruition.  Both of these posts ranked high among you, my readers.  Thank You.

Forty-Two, The Details

We indulged in some VIP tickets to the annual Botanica Holiday Illuminations display, a trek we make every December.  These VIP tickets gave us early access to and unlimited rides on the Carousel.  Such fun it was!

The lights, the pavilion, even the location up on a hill on the backside of the gardens, are stunning.  The restoration, is over-the top!  Every inch has been redone.  It looks new, but with the elegance and depth that only vintage objects possess.

Forty-TwoI was surprised at how my stomach jumped as the beautiful steed I chose, came to life and the ride began.  It was magical, with my knight in shinning armor next to me on his gallant stallion.

For just a moment, I was a child again.  We rode for most of the hour allotted, enjoying the music from the restored “mini monster” band, the spectacular lights and the smiles on all the riders, young and old.

When we reluctantly left the beautiful pavilion that now houses the carousel.  The walk through the gardens lit for the season seemed just a bit brighter this year.

Happy New Year!  Happy New Decade!  May you find fresh joy in your life.
